Delora loves helping learners
Chemimatics is a teaching practice rooted in deep conceptual understanding of chemistry and mathematics that is mindfully centered on individual learner growth.
- Research-Informed Chemistry Teaching
Dr. Gaskins has performed research at the following universities : Brandeis University, Bucknell University, CSULB, and Université libre de Bruxelles. She has published 3 scientific papers sharing her research results with the greater scientific community including a method. which has been incorporated into a laboratory in Hungary. - Research-informed Approach to Mathematical Education
Dr. Gaskins attends the Mathematics Colloquium at California State University, Long Beach. There she has the opportunity to learn from researchers in mathematics education who share their current work and results. She is able to transfer these approaches into her teaching practice.

Dr. Gaskins applied and was selected to participate in several very selective National Science Foundation Programs funded by the US federal government. Brandeis University and Bucknell University accepted her into their NSF funded Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Programs where she performed research with Dr. Tom Solomon and in the group of Dr. Irving Epstein. Her NSF-funded PSMS Scholarship funded her last year of studies at CSULB where she applied to and was accepted as fellow of the NSF Graduate Research Program. After completing her Ph.D, in Chemistry researching pattern formation in chemical systems, Dr. Gaskins went to Belgium with a research fellowship funded by the Belgian American Educational Foundation whose mission is to instill in Belgium as well as in the United States a deep respect and appreciation for the other’s country and people. She was able to continue her research in the NLPC from a successfully funded if@ULB proposal funded in part by the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 program.
